RIVIERA TEXAS

Riviera Texas 1900 to 2005

Rivera, Texas was started by Theo F. Kock of llinois. He started a railroad from Chicago to Brownsville Texas and Mexico, but before he did this he bought some land from the King Ranch.  He started the areas called Rivera Texas, Riviera Beach, Texas, and Vattman Texas.

Amanda Underbrink Remlinger’s father, Mr. Ignatius Underbrink, was also a land promoter with Mr. Koch and his family.  He started the land office right near the railroad depot.  Mr. Koch also built a small train system from Riviera, Texas to Riviera Beach.

And the Rivera Museum

Rivera Texas is a fun place to go to.  It has very small streets and nice little houses.  Some are old and some are new.  It is very interesting to go through the Rivera Texas Museum there in Rivera Texas, right off the main highway off Highway 77 going to Raymondville Texas and also Loyola Beach and Vattman, Texas and Riviera Beach, Texas also.
